Ru was sent as a potential performance dog in a proven agility home with the McQuiggs in Homer, Alaska.
When the owners took Ru to his first obedience class they were strongly encouraged to show him in conformation. They phoned to talk to me about it and despite my concerns about an inconsistent and often entire lack of Basenji entry in Alaska, Tammy felt strongly about having him shown. So...
Ru debuted in the show ring in July of 2007 at barely 6 months of age, snatching a Group 2 win that day! Woo-hoo!
He easily finished both his Junior and Senior Courser titles and loved to chase "bunnies".
Ru finished his championship title undefeated in the Breed ring with three majors and earning a Hound G1, G2, G3 & G4 along the way!

Co-bred with Pat Marshall of Berimo Basenjis in Jasper, Texas as well as Sue & Amy Stabley of Olympia, Washington.
Ru finished his championship in Alaska his last weekend there before his family relocated to Colorado.
During the adjustment of their move, Ru discovered live hare in the field that abutts the McQuiggs' new home. Ru managed to open the gate and escaped to pursue the hunt. Night fell, and the McQuiggs were unable to find him until daybreak when he was found DOA on the side of the road.
